So, are you looking for a new family to work for? Are you sick of looking in the classified ads to only find a couple nanny/babysitting positions when what you need is something full-time? Well, If you are starting out in the world of being a nanny these are some helpful websites that I have used.

Sittercity.com — sittercity was a website a fellow nanny informed me of. This is a well-designed site. I like the features that allow you to run background checks on yourself. This is a very helpful tool for the families as well. Also, this site allows you to post your education history, work experience, specialties, and a small Intro paragraph as well. You must post a photo of yourself. This site also has wonderful links to articles about parenting and being a nanny. This site also allows you to create profiles if you wish to broaden your job search. You can create an elderly care, petcare or housework profiles. There is no fee to sign up if you are a nanny.

Nannies4hire.com — This is a wonderful site. I actually learned about this site from Jon and Kate Plus 8. I figure if they could use and have success then there is a shot for anyone. This site is great because you create a profile, post a picture and write about yourself. This site as helpful tools about finding a nanny position… i.e. interview questions, reference folders and a great search engine. You can put in whatever state you are looking to work in and a bunch of family profiles pop up. You can message families that you may want to work for. Families can do the same. There is no charge for nannies but there is a charge for families. This site also has a neat feature called, “featured families and featured nannies” this allows your profile to show up so everyone can see you without doing a search. You do have to pay extra for this feature.

Craigslist– This is a more risky venture but from past experience it can be great! I was found on craigslist by my last employer and it was the greatest job. Craigslist is basically the classified ads online. It is a bit more difficult to use at first, but it gets simpler when you know what you are looking for. If you are looking for a full-time nanny position then you search those terms in the childcare section. You just have to make sure that the families are legit. No charges for placing and answering any ads.

I hope these tips are helpful! Good luck with all your searches! :)

Another great site is Care.com. Similar to Sittercity, in that it doesn’t cost to sign up if you’re a caregiver, free background checks, easy to use site. Great, informative articles and links. You can also create tutoring, pet sitting, elder care and housekeeping profiles.

One of the oldest nanny sites online is http://www.NannyClassifieds.com and is a great resource for Live in and Live out full time nanny jobs. Their sister site is called http://www.4EverythingNanny.com which offers a free monthly newsletter, a free Ask the Experts forum and links to nanny agencies all over the country. Both sites are owned and operated by a former nanny and are 10 years old. Tons of information for new nannies as well as experienced career nannies.

There are alot of nanny sites. i’m a nanny for 3 families part time, I love gonannies, nannies4hire,and 4nannies, care.com are all very good..all the familys are professional they pay very well and every once in a blue moon you do get a scammer but these sites warn you, by that time you could have figured it out just by reading the scammers email to you..they speak broken english and seem to be in a rush to find someone to watch their little darling, they are willing to pay you before they even meet you…Beware ladies of single dads not all are scammers but you don’t see their children on these sites and when you asked about them the said family looking for the nanny disappear..I love being a nanny, I have 3 great families looking to help more families..Take your time and find a great fit/family.

If you are looking for good business exposure as a nanny or agency, try Nanny Institute. It’s a site that lets you register your service or agency for free and people who use your service can leave reviews.

    I am a new Nanny!
I found my job through Craigslist and it worked out great for me.
I also set up a profile on Care.com, which emails you when new Want Ads are posted close to your location — which is great.

I am hoping this new position will last a long time, it’s a great family and an amazing kiddo. Thanks !
